Miss Frankel in training in KZN

After a rather sad leave taking of the team at Avontuur who’ve looked after her since her arrival at the well-known Thoroughbred Stud Farm near Cape Town in October 2014,  Miss Frankel (Frankel x Val de Ra), took her first steps into the big wide world last week, when she left the Estate for her new training HQ in KZN.

“From her arrival as a tiny foal she has been a superstar with lots of sass and character.  Her time with us was full of visits by the great and good in racing, media, breeding and training,” says Avontuur Estate GM Pippa Mickleburgh.

“She handled the attention with aplomb and her Face Book page, has ensured that her fan base kept up to date with her growing up days in the paddocks and obviously the famous visitors who popped in to meet and greet her.”

One of her regular visitors from an early age was veteran trainer Dennis Drier, who also trained her dam Val de Ra, in her day Equus Sprinter of the Year and one of the Avontuur-bred horses the team is proudest of.  It therefore makes sense that Miss Frankel is now handed over into the care of Mr Drier, where her half-sister Dream de Ra (Oasis Dream x Val de Ra) is also based and thriving under his expert tuition.

“She will be out of the public eye, and we’ll have a to wait a while before that distinctive face is seen again but once she’s settled in and in training, I’m sure Dennis will share her progress,” added Pippa.

In the meantime Frankel fans will have to enjoy the prowess of his many first season progeny now hitting tracks around the world with an incredible success rate.  Nearly daily, we receive news of Frankel colts and fillies wowing punters and fans as they show off the magic of this illustrious blood line.  His wins currently stand at 10 for 2016 and we look forward to many more.
