INTRODUCTION TO AVONTUUR ESTATEAvontuur Wine and Thoroughbred Estate is situated on the southwestern slopes of the Helderberg on the R44 road which connects Somerset West and Stellenbosch, in South Africa's prime wine growing district.
The Estate boasts a cosy tasting room where tastings of all Avontuur wines are conducted daily as well as a restaurant offering a mediterranean-inspired a-la-carte menu with daily and seasonal specials. Patrons are welcome to sit outside on the terrace and enjoy the view over False Bay or in Winter, inside, in front of the
fireplace.
Avontuur consists of 100 ha vineyards and produces approximately 450 tons of
grapes annually. Wine maker, Natalie Nel and wine advisor Charl Theron were appointed on 1 October 2008.The vineyards are planted with 65% red varietals and 35% white varietals. The Reds are: Cabernet Sauvignon & Franc, Merlot, Pinotage, Pinot Noir and Shiraz. The Whites are: Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc.
The estate is owned by the Taberer family since 1984.
Lying restfully amongst the vines on the estate is the beautiful Avontuur Stud Farm where the emphasis has always been on quality rather than quantity.
In fact Avontuur's premier range of wines bears testimony to four of the
finest horses to have passed through the farm. Baccarat (Bordeaux blend),
Luna de Miel (Chardonnay Reserve), Sarabande (Sauvignon Blanc Reserve) and Minelli (Pinot Noir Reserve) live on in the wonderful wines which are nurtured in our cellars.Avontuur also produces a 10-year old and a Non-vintage potstilled Brandy, both of which are exquisitely packaged and perfect as a gift idea.

- Vintner’s Red – Red blend with Bordeaux tones. Lightly wooded, made to last up to 5 years.

An easy-drinking, fruity range of 2 wines, to suit every pocket. To be enjoyed early or within a year or two of release. Eye-catching, colourful packaging, designed to draw the eye.

Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet/Merlot, Shiraz, Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon.
Cabernet Franc and others may be produced under this label as and when quality – and the winemakers’ inclination – coincide!
Select range in elegant black and gold packaging. The best the Estate can produce in that year, reflecting the terroir and vintage. Made to last, interesting, aimed at impressing the wine connoisseur.
